How to Rewrite Text Without Changing Its Meaning
A practical method for preserving claims, qualifiers, relationships and factual details while changing wording and structure.
The safest way to preserve meaning is to identify what cannot change before you rewrite. That includes facts, quantities, named entities, causal relationships, conditions and uncertainty.
Use a meaning checklist
- Did any absolute claim replace a qualified one?
- Did the subject or object of a claim change?
- Did numbers, dates or units move?
- Did correlation become causation?
- Did the rewrite add a claim that was not in the source?
After rewriting, compare source and output at the claim level—not just for textual similarity.
