How to Human-Edit AI Rewrites

A line-by-line editorial workflow for turning AI-rewritten drafts into accurate, useful and natural content.

Human editing should do more than smooth awkward sentences. The editor needs to confirm that the rewrite still makes the same factual claims and is actually useful to the intended reader.

Editing sequence

1. Fact-check names, dates, quantities and citations.
2. Compare qualifiers and causal language with the source.
3. Remove generic filler.
4. Restore specific examples and domain terminology.
5. Improve rhythm, transitions and voice.
6. Read the final version without looking at the source to judge usefulness.
