How to Create Content Variations Without Making Thin Duplicates
A workflow for producing meaningful content variants for legitimate testing, localization and channel adaptation.
Content variations are useful when the destination really changes: a different audience, channel, reading level, localization, ad test or format. They are less useful when they simply produce many near-identical pages for the same search intent.
A better variation workflow
- Define the variable you are testing or adapting.
- Keep factual claims consistent.
- Change examples, framing or format where appropriate.
- Review every published version.
- Avoid indexing multiple pages that answer the same query with essentially the same content.
